I have been trying to get to the bottom of where all the claims
being used to bolster the idea that children need to transition if they are
gender confused.
Everything seems to originate from something called the 2015 U.S.
Transgender Survey (USTS) and the 2008–09 National Transgender Discrimination Survey
(NTDS), which the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) states “helped
to shift how the public and policymakers view the lives of transgender people
and the challenges they face.”
For those who are not familiar with how these kind of surveys work, they are self-reports of a targeted population. The survey itself, is compiled by an advocacy
group, in this case, the National Center for Transgender Equality, a group with the stated agenda of using the results to push public policy.
As the report on the USTS states, “The USTS survey
instrument was developed over the course of a year by a core team of
researchers and advocates in collaboration with dozens of individuals with
lived experience, advocacy and research experience, and subject-matter
expertise.”
They go on to admit that “The survey instrument was reviewed
by researchers, members of the transgender community, and transgender advocates
at multiple intervals throughout the development process. This included
thorough reviews of sections that addressed specific subject matter and the
entire questionnaire.”
Once the questionnaire was revised and reviewed by trans
advocates, it was sent to specific pro-trans organizations support groups,
health centers, and online communities.
The statistics used to support the idea that trans are at a
high rate of discrimination, harassment, and abuse are based on the results of
a this survey that was developed by a pro-trans advocacy group, sent to
pro-trans organizations, and answered by self-identified trans.
The statistics are not based on crime reports or medical
reports, but self-reports by individuals who say that being dead-named and mis-gendered
is “assault.”
Individuals who feel entitled to special treatment, and who
refuse to believe that they should conform to social norms.
It is also important to note that the USTS has a section dedicated
to “conversion therapy” states, “ Many transgender people discuss their gender
identity with professionals, such as health care providers or religious
advisors. However, despite the medical
consensus that efforts to change someone’s gender identity or stop them
from being transgender (“conversion therapy”) are ineffective, harmful, and
even abusive, some professionals still attempt to
do so.
The medical consensus was developed by trans advocates without
the input of individuals who had gender dysphoria as children, but who did not
transition. The recommendation for
supporting a child’s gender confusion.
For perspective, “Forty-eight percent (48%) of respondents
have seriously thought about killing themselves in the past year, compared to
4% of the U.S. population, and 82% have had serious thoughts about killing
themselves at some point in their life.”
Apparently transitioning has not been particularly effective
at helping trans-individuals feel less suicidal!
One section of the USTS I found particularly interesting was
this, “When asked about their political views, more than half (55%) of the
sample described themselves as ‘very liberal,’ 27% selected ‘liberal,’ 15%
selected ‘moderate,’ 2% selected ‘conservative,’ and only 1% described
themselves as ‘very conservative.’”
The trans population is much more left leaning than the general population and reports
higher rates of suicidal ideation. Hmmm,
since they are so willing to make correlations, perhaps we can make the claim
that more a population skews to the left, the higher their rate of suicidality…
It should also be noted that when trans activists make
claims about how they are discriminated against because of poor access to
health care, it is based on this survey, which determines that someone has been
discriminated against if their insurance doesn’t cover hormonal and surgical
transitioning.
Trans activists are using a self-report questionnaire designed
by trans advocates, taken by trans who are affiliated with pro-trans
organizations, and compiled by a pro-trans activist group. Self-reporting is notoriously inaccurate, and the inaccuracy is compounded when a survey is designed and developed by group that has a specific aim and wants to represent the results to achieve a specific goal.
No attempt was made to include individuals who suffered from
gender dysphoria as children but didn’t transition in the study, or even to
consider that such people should be included, because doing so would
shine a bright spotlight on the flaws with the data they are using to support
their claims of oppression and the fact that “medical consensus” has been based upon seriously
flawed data.

bad science is one of the easiest things to spot if you know what science really is. the problem emerges when you dont. they will probably insist that only they are capable of studying/evaluating themselves as nobody who has not experienced the condition is capable of understanding the thoughts & feelings they experience. they will basically belittle & marginalize the entire world rather than admit the source of all their problems is within.
ReplyDeletenobody understands them, nobody could, because nobody IS them. they would rather ignore that (*im guessing at my numbers as close as i could remember, dont take them as accurate, find out for yourself) some 40% of those who transition still suicide. when the "cure" doesnt keep nearly half of the subjects alive in the long term, i think were not really accurate in calling it a cure. or really helpful at all. also the studies that show how many would transition back will likely never come up. most people wont take the time to critique a study at all & just take what they are told as fact. then build a belief system around it? is any of this scientific? i dunno, lookitup for yourself...
(sorry to hijack yer stuff :P)
